HOEDSPRUIT - Hoedspruit birders were in for a rare treat when four lesser flamingos (Phoenicopterus minor) settled down in the pond at the 4x4 track near the fire station.

  First reported by Carl du Toit, whose photographic post on Hoedspruit Town’s facebook page attracted a lot of interest. 

Rhino tears wine raises R100k in three months to combat poaching

A new wine brand, launched at the end of 2014, has already raised over R100 000 to be used in the war against rhino poaching within South Africa’s national parks. The Rhino Tears range of wines, from the Mt Vernon estate in Cape Town, donates proceeds from every bottle sold to Unite Against Poaching, and after selling 8,852 bottles since its launch in October 2014, has now contributed the substantial amount to the cause.
