HOEDSPRUIT -  Pieter Papsdorf, voorsitter van die Hoedspruit Dorpswag het die volgende instansies bedank vir die vinnige en effektiewe optrede Saterdagnag 2 April 2016 nadat ‘n brand in een van die bekende gastehuise in Hoedspruit uitgebreek het. Hy het gesê dat die vinnige optrede erge skade verhoed het. Alarm was om 22:49 gemaak en die laaste opruiming was 1 uur voltooi. 

Leopard hunting banned for this year

COUNTRYWIDE - The hunting of leopards has been contentious for some time, as there is a lack of reliable information about their numbers. In the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species for 2015, leopards are classified as “Near threatened”, but with the addendum that although they are locally common in parts of Africa, they are declining in large parts of their range. This decline is due to habitat loss and fragmentation, and hunting for trade and pest control, and significant enough that the species could soon qualify for Vulnerable.

Eight Mpumalanga traffic officers arrested for corruption

MPUMALANGA - Kruger Lowveld Tourism has announced that eight Mpumalanga traffic officers from Bushbuckridge, Sabie, Nelspruit, Mbombela and surrounds have been arrested for corruption.

  ‘These are some of the traffic officers who have been targeting our local communities and our tourists and we are pleased that action is being taken against them,’ said Lisa Sheard of KLT. ‘We have no doubt that the pressure put on authorities via our Roadside Anti-Corruption Initiative is bearing fruit.  Keep up the good work and keep reporting these incidents!’
