Minister aims to institute unworkable policy

BOKSBURG - During the Land Summit held from September 4 - 6, the Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform, Gugile Nkwinti, tried to pass a controversial policy in terms of which a limitation could be placed on the size of farms that people may own, said Agri SA president Johannes Möller.

  ‘The minister was unable to secure buy-in on this Green Paper proposal during the relevant consultation process, which lasted almost two years, yet tried to pass it as a resolution towards the end of the summit in Boksburg. 

SCS u/13 boys win Letaba League

HOEDSPRUIT - The Southern Cross Schools u/13 boys cricket side remains unbeaten in the Letaba League. On September 4 they played Phalaborwa Development. After winning the toss, they chose to bat first and made 165 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their 25 over innings.

  The top scorers were Luke Mackay with 35 runs and Dewald Dumon who made 30 runs. The Phalaborwa Development team then went in to bat. Thomas Mayes and Dewald Dumon both took two wickets each and Ruben Caroto and Daniel Dixon both took one wicket each. Southern Cross Schools won the match by 67 runs.

Zanis Gymnasts bring home gold and silver

KEMPTON PARK – Zanis Gymnastics Club Hoedspruit participated in the North Zone SA Championships last weekend and did exceptionally well!

  Robyn-Lee Maart won a silver medal in Level 3. Brothers Marco and Stefan Brits participated in Level 1 and both won gold medals. Storm Locke (gold), Emma Patrick (silver) and Sarah Diedericks (gold) also participated in Level 1.

  Anika Wallace won gold in Level 2, Claire du Toit received gold in Level 1, Gemma Ferguson won silver in Level 3 while Emma Tintinger won gold in Level 1 and Cameron Theron silver in Level 2.

  ‘Congratulations to all the gymnasts who represented Limpopo! I am very proud of each and every one of you!’ says coach Elmien du Plessis.
